9 Weeks Out

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the ones you did. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover." (Unknown)

Since the first time I read this quote it has been my mantra, my 'theme'. It inspires me to think big, dream of the crazy, the unexpected, the impossible...and then do it.

I remember telling my mum and dad when I was 18 that I planned to save all my money (some $20 a week from working at the local corner store at the time - I was always better with spending money than saving it!) and use it to travel around the world. I had always been fascinated whenever I met someone who had been 'somewhere' and I used to hang on to their every word - dreaming that one day that would be me. Since childhood I collected picture books with glossy photos depicting life in London, Egypt, France...and devour them. Now I collect Lonely Planet guides and devour them.

Traveling is in my blood...i'm positive I take after my grandfather who planned his own round-the-world trip way before it was cool (and cheap) to do so....gypsies - the two of us.

Till next time...
